March 21st Biking Trip Signup

The Unity of Fairfax bike club's first overnight bike trip is planned for Friday 3/21 through Saturday, 3/22. This ride will offer opportunities for exercise, adventure, historic immersion, and social bonding.

We will meet at 8:30 am Friday morning at Unity of Fairfax, carpool with our bikes to Cockeysville, Maryland, and start pedaling on the historic 50 mile rail-to-trail to York, Pennsylvania around 10:30 am.

This rail trail is the actual route taken by Abraham Lincoln’s funeral train in 1865. In Pennsylvania, the trail name is Heritage Rail Trail. The trail is a level, mostly crushed stone ride and wide (mountain bike) tires are best on this kind of surface.

We’ll have a nice dinner together Friday evening and stay overnight at the historic Yorktowne Hotel in York (a Hilton property). Please phone 717.848.1111 to make your reservation.

After gathering for breakfast Saturday morning, we will return to our starting point in Maryland and caravan back to the church, arriving late afternoon.

Please contact Midd Hunt (bike@unityoffairfax.org or 703.623.9850) for questions and a detailed trail map.
