Annie Ray grew up in Youth and Family in Unity churches from infancy including two years as a Uni-teen and the RISE (Rite of Spiritual Enrichment) program followed by four active years in the high school Youth of Unity (Y.O.U.) program. All this culminated in being the elected Regional Officer of Spirituality for the Eastern Region which included the planning and running of two weekend-long regional retreats and a smaller overnight lock-in, as well as writing and giving talks, and mentoring peers.
She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with concentrations in Politics and Policy, International Relations, and Environmental Affairs.
Annie has years of experience working in Montessori schools, is in her third year homeschooling her three children, and recently helped found a homeschool collective that meets here at Unity of Fairfax on Tuesdays where she serves as board president and leads classes for kids age 4-10.
In her ‘spare time’ she works for a local event coordinating company that plans and executes awareness and fundraising events for causes including adult and childhood cancer organizations, veterans organizations, and children’s hospitals. Annie’s husband Chris, also grew up in Unity at Unity By the Bay in Annapolis, Maryland and they actually met through the Y.O.U. retreats. Annie is excited to help support and continue to develop our community as a beacon of love, light and support in our world.
