In 2018 I participated in my first ever “Unexpected Abundance” with Rev. Russ and it was a powerful experience.
It had been eight years since my divorce and my daughter, Tess, and I were renting an apartment and it felt like it was time to buy a place of my own. I finally found the perfect condo and made an offer Easter weekend that was accepted. After the closing, the sellers handed me a card and I casually thanked them as we parted.
Once alone we opened the card and found a $4,000 check inside. I couldn’t believe my eyes and through tears asked Tess, “Who does that, give someone they barely know $4,000?” She replied, “Because you deserve it - just accept it.”
Being a part of this program helped me to believe that I was worthy of good things in my life, and that knowing that made all the difference in manifesting my abundance.

A couple of years ago my then 25 year old son felt that something was “off” and went to see his doctor.
The next couple of weeks were a blur as we dealt with what was a cancer diagnosis. The blessing was that my son’s early detection and a quickly scheduled surgery to remove the offending mass put my son on the road to healing. To add another wrinkle, the timing of this was such that my son had just moved to Virginia and had not yet found a job; and I was, for the first time in over 20 years between jobs…and insurance coverage.
While my son healed, the bills started to come in. I paid what I could, but quickly recognized how one medical incident could cause financial distress on a two person household. I worked with the hospital’s financial department which suggested my son complete an application for financial assistance. They said that in many cases the hospital is willing to work out a payment plan to at least keep the collection agency at bay.
Imagine our surprise when his application for assistance was approved not for a payment plan, but for a 100% discount on the charges. 100%! We owed the hospital nothing further.
Grateful does not begin to express what I felt in that moment - not only for my son’s health (he is now 2.5 years cancer-free), but for the unexpected generosity we received.
God is everywhere present, and all is well.

On November 5, 2020 we mailed a love offering to Unity of Fairfax.
Today, November 6, we were checking open season insurance options for one of us and found out there was a dental insurance benefit which we didn't know was available.
So now we will be unexpectedly reimbursed for some dental costs incurred this year.
