Mid-term elections are on November 3, 2026.
Early voting begins on September 18. In addition to voting for our Federal Representative and one Senator, there are three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution on the ballot.
Those amendments will change and/or support current laws.
The proposed amendments are
1. Marriage Equality: "The State will be prohibited from denying a marriage license to two adults based on sex, gender, race.” Love is love!
2. Voting Rights for Felons: " Automatically restore voting rights to those who have completed a felony sentence." Currently in Virginia, the governor has to order individual voting restoration. Most states have a blanket rule which this amendment will provide for Virginians.
3. Reproductive Freedom: " Enshrine a right to reproductive freedom, including protection for access to abortions, contraceptives and fertility treatments." Virginia is the only southern state that still supports women’s control over their bodies.
These amendments, if passed, will make these part of the Virginia Constitution -- which means that a future governor can not eliminate these rights.
