Schedule
Easter and Unity
Easter is the defining event in the Christian calendar, but Unity does not teach vicarious atonement (the theology that Jesus died for your sins). So what does Unity teach about Easter and why?
Join us in the Metaphysical Group for a deep exploration of the metaphysics of Easter! As preparation, participants are encouraged to read the Gospel accounts of the Easter experience
March 10 - Easter and Unity
March 17 - Easter and Unity
March 24 - Easter and Unity
March 31 - NO MEETING TODAY
Interfaith Friendship Sunday
April 7 - As part of Interfaith Friendship Sunday, we will have a special presentation and practice from the Art of Living Foundation, a Hindu organization.
The Bhagavad Gita
From April 14 through May 19, a new five-part series to study the ancient Indian Classic, the Bhagavad Gita, facilitated by Steve Marcom.
As Emerson said, the Gita is “the voice of an old intelligence which in another age & climate had pondered & thus disposed of the same questions which exercise us.” It addresses the fundamental question, How should we live? Or, more essentially, How should I live? It is a book of deeply personal instruction, a sacred text.
We will use the Stephen Mitchell translation as our source. Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of the book. Though not required, reading this short, yet powerful, book will allow you to receive the greatest benefit from our discussions. A limited number of books are available for purchase in the Unity of Fairfax bookstore.
There is an online version of the text - Bhagavad Gita. But I highly recommend purchasing a hard copy; there is an energy in the hard copy and it is easy to skip about to different locations.
April 14 - Arjuna’s Despair and The Practice of Yoga
April 21 - The Yoga of Action
April 28 - The Yoga of Wisdom
May 12 - The Yoga of Renunciation
May 19 - The Yoga of Meditation
